ARC500 Sel/Tyo Mapping Cities

Fall 2025

Instructor: Bing Bu
To investigate the city through the lens of sound, framing spatial and temporal systems. Sound typologies used as tools to classify distinct modes of urban activity- revealing how social behavior and built form interact across time.

By mapping sound typologies, distinct behavior through sound can explore how cities can be understood through what they produce acoustically rather than visually, leaving room for natural forces to interpret new spatial meaning.

Connecting large scale urban tendencies with immediate, lived experiences.
